Meninos do Lago ganham barcos

Os 80 inmeninosdolagobarcostegrantes do projeto “Meninos do Lago” contam a partir de hoje com novos barcos e equipamentos de segurança para treinar. O Programa de Proteção Integral à Criança e ao Adolescente (PPCA), mantido pela Itaipu, doou 37 canoas e caiaques, remos, coletes e capacetes aos atletas. Os atletas estrearam as embarcações logo a seguir, no Canal Itaipu.
Joel (segurando uma das pontas do caiaque): objetivo é tirar adolescentes da situação de risco social.

Segundo Joel de Lima, coordenador dos programas de responsabilidade social da Itaipu, o apoio da empresa não visa não apenas os resultados esportivos. “Lógico que a meta é formar campeões e ensinar a eles uma profissão, mas o principal é ocupar o tempo ocioso destes meninos, retirando-os da situação de risco social”, explicou.
Outra vantagem salientada por Joel é a questão ambiental. “À medida que estes adolescentes vão treinando e aprendendo a gostar da água e da natureza, tornam-se aliados na preservação”.

De acordo com o superintendente da Confederação Brasileira de Canoagem, Argos Rodrigues (foto), o projeto “Meninos do Lago”, resultado de uma parceria entre a entidade e Itaipu, só é viável pelo apoio da binacional.

A doação dos equipamentos, ressaltou, veio em boa hora. “Os adolescentes treinavam em barcos velhos e pesados, agora têm as melhores embarcações do mercado nacional”, disse.

Mudança de Vida

Mariele Adelaine Balbino, de 12 anos, é uma das “meninas do lago”. Embora treine há apenas dois meses, já é uma campeã. Ela conquistou o 1º lugar na categoria Iniciantes no campeonato realizado em Brotas, São Paulo, no início do mês. Ela está entusiasmada. “Eu sempre quis ser atleta. Pensava em jogar futebol, mas estou gostando muito da canoagem”, disse.
Mariele contou que o esporte mudou sua vida. “Antes eu ficava brincando na rua, sem fazer nada produtivo. Agora, acordo todas as manhãs animada com os treinos. Vou ser uma grande atleta”, disse. A animação de Mariele contagiou outras colegas do colégio onde estuda. Duas delas, Samara e Cristiane, querem ingressar no projeto.
Milena da Costa, também de 12 anos, é outro exemplo de mudança de vida e de comportamento. “Até na escola estou mais atenta”, contou.
O projeto
Os jovens atletas estão se preparando para as Olimpíadas de 2016.

Desenvolvido pela Federação Paranaense de Canoagem, o projeto “Meninos do Lago” visa preparar jovens para disputar as Olimpíadas de 2016, no Rio de Janeiro.

Atualmente, participam do projeto 80 meninos de baixa renda da Vila C e do Morumbi. Muitos deles já conquistaram títulos nacionais e internacionais. A próxima disputa será nos dias 16 e 17 de abril, em Primavera do Leste, Mato Grosso. Para conseguir os resultados, os jovens treinam diariamente no Canal Itaipu de Canoagem.
